Paul Evans Faceted Cityscape Dining Table in Burl and Brass

21,500.00

For your consideration is one of the most striking pieces of 1970s design — a faceted dining table by Paul Evans for Directional. Evans was one of the leaders of the American studio crafts movement from his home in New Hope, PA (where George Nakashima and Phil Powell also resided). This piece is one of just a few of the faceted cityscape pieces ever produced in brass and burled walnut. Each piece from the Evans' studio was handcrafted and is unique — no two of the brass or wood pieces on the base are quite the same size or shape. It was a fashion forward design choice at the time, and remains so today — gaudily sophisticated, handsomely ugly, and glaringly subtle. Very nice overall condition. Some inconspicuous minor repairs in the burl, and shallow surface marks to the glass. Presents very well. 29" x 71" x 47 1/2" Base only: 28 1/2" x 51 1/2" x 22"
